Art criticism A. I see a round cylinder that has my name initials on it with black holes. I would describe it over the phone as a black round cup that has a lid on it and my initials on it, with white holes. The art elements were clay and black, red and green glaze and putting it in the kiln. B. The texture on it was smooth from the glaze but the holes made it kinda bumpy. The colors are mainly black. The shape of my piece is round and proportion of it has holes on it. C. The mood of my piece is just a dark name piece that i can put anything in. The feeling that is communicated with this piece is a cup that shows that its versatile. The ideas that are being represented is just holes to add a little spice to my piece and my initials to show who made the piece. I have no story behind this piece. D. I think my piece was a okay artwork because I did it last minute because I had to start over because my first piece was a mess. I don't think it is successful because I could've done better by taking my time and actually trying to blend and smooth out my top to fit to my piece. This is my favorite artwork I have ever done. This is my portrait piece of myself. I knew I wanted to do a picture of myself and I picked the picture because it was a easy picture and it had very little detail. I first sent my picture to my email so I could outline everything because I wanted everything to be perfectly aligned. After I outlined everything I went and shaped up some spots and added some little detail I needed. After i did all the I made galaxy paint and used a sponge to dab it out everywhere on the background of my piece and after I let that dry I splattered white paint with a paint brush on it to make it look like stars. Then I took the white paint and went over my picture I sketched out ( I left it white) just in case any of the galaxy paint got on it. After all of that I outlined the pencil with sharpie pen. 1. Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts, expressing the author's imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. 2. The point of this class is to guide me into how to do art and perfect it and learn new things I've never done. I got new vocab, how to shade pencil and pen, how to slip and score clay, etc. I've learned a lot of new things from this class. 3. The most help warm up I did was the watercolor warm up because it helped me learn how ombre a color into another color. It also helped me learn how to control my brush when I paint. And it helped me learn how much and how little paint I need before I mix it with the water.

For my final project I did my Instagram profile because it describes what I do 25/8. First I just cut out a big poster and lined out all the outlines on my instagram picture. Then I started types all the words on my page and printing out all my pictures in color. It was very easy and fun and I like it very much.
I used 5 different mediums and 3 techniques. My first medium I used was paper mache on my background, I just ripped apart all of the paper tissue and painted a coat of elmer's glue. My next medium was printing out pictures of myself from when I was little until now. My third medium was taking letters that you have to paint over to make the shape of the letter on your piece. My fourth medium was using glitter glue to make hearts and My last technique I used was stick on letters. My three techniques I used was to use red glitter for my hearts and to put ink stamps on my stick on letters that spelled my instagram name. My last technique was panting on letters that spell my name but the letters in my name go up and down after each letter.
My word was to do ME, show things that describe or express me. And to do that I made my name out and put pictures of myself. Then i also used my favorite color for the background. The perspective I used was 1 point perspective.
I took my photo off of google because I did not have good perspective pictures that I liked. What I found difficult about this project is trying to get everything to look perspective and neat and lined up to the point. The warmups I chose helped me because it helped me practice doing the things before I tried doing it on the real piece. I did a portrait of myself, My relationship with myself is that I love me.
The medium I used was just acrylic paint. My process I did was draw my picture and make sure I get every detail and then I got all the acrylic paint together I need to make my galaxy background and used a sponge to make every color blend in as a mixture. Then I went over my drawing with white paint if I got any galaxy paint on it. After that i traced over my drawing with a sharpie pen. What I find successful is how my galaxy background came out and if I were to do this again I would add tape around my drawing then go outside to throw the white paint on the galaxy paint to make "stars" and not in the classroom. The warm up I find the most helpful was the face contour. I found the face contour the most helpful because it showed me how to detail things and add more face structure to my portrait.
What I found the most surprising about facial proportions is how the eye is drawn because u have to add the reflecting of the light to the pupil and how you have lines in your eye colors. Since completing the clay project I have seen so much progress and improvement in my piece. Before i finished it I thought it was going to be ugly but once I added the glaze and put it in to fire it came back so glossy and brighter than it looked.
What I find successful on my piece is how I did my letters so smooth and they pocked out and not carved in. If I were to do it again I would change how my holes were so close together and paint the glaze in side the holes. I plan to add my name initials to my piece and paint everything in black with the glaze. For my initials I will add bright colors for them to stand out.
What I found difficult so far is trying to round the cyclinder perfectly and evenly and trying to smooth everything out. What I found successful so far was doing my tiny dots all around the piece. What I did was that the slab and smack it out and then roll it. After I rolled it I cut it and did scratch and slip to piece it together to make a cyclinder shape. After I did all that I placed the green ware into the clim room to sit for the next day. My piece shows off the them of “line” becasue I have a lot of lines in my flower stems and my butterfly has lots of good looking lines.
My piece was successful at the flower carving. I think it looks very good than the first try I did on the other side on my block. If I did it again a 3rd time I would change how I did my butterfly and add more detail and make it more artsy and not like a rushed and slapped on butterfly. My in progress picture The hue scale is my most helpful warm up The place represented in my art is the beach sunset and ocean. This place is important to me becasue I love to get away and go on vacation and seeing the beautiful sunset and ocean together makes me feel relaxed.
The most challenging I found about my picture was trying to make the sunset look as decent a possible and not look messy and try to get that faded of the colors look. The most successful part on my piece I felt that looked good was my sunset. I first had made it big bulky clouds but then I painted over then and tried to do streak clouds but with the sunset colors and I think I did a pretty decent job. The whole time during the process of my painting I was trying my best to blend out all the colors becasue everywhere in the painting I had to blend out dark colors into light and not have lines between any of them. |
